Dog Walking Questions, Answered
Common questions about our off-leash group dog walks across Sydney's Lower North Shore and Northern Beaches.
Getting Started With Dog Walking
How do I book a dog walk?
Start by completing our short online enquiry form. We will review your details and get back to you to arrange a free meet and greet. Already part of the pack? Just call, text, or email us to book additional walks.
Do you do a meet and greet first?
Always. Every dog gets a free meet and greet before their first walk. This lets us assess your dog's temperament, answer your questions in person, and match them with a compatible group. Arrange your free meet and greet.
Which suburbs do you cover?
We cover more than 30 suburbs across Sydney's Lower North Shore (Mosman to Willoughby) and Northern Beaches (Seaforth to Curl Curl). Visit our service areas page for a full suburb-by-suburb guide, or submit an enquiry if you are not sure whether we reach your area.
Do you offer dog minding or pet sitting?
We specialise in off-leash group dog walks and do not offer minding, sitting, or boarding. If you need help finding a reliable carer, get in touch and we will do our best to point you in the right direction.
How does payment work?
Walks are invoiced weekly on Friday via email. Payment is automatic through your nominated bank account or credit card. You will set up your preferred payment method as part of the registration process.
How Our Dog Walks Work
How long is each dog walk?
Every group walk includes a full hour of off-leash playtime at the park. See our dog walking page for complete details on what each walk includes.
How many dogs are in each group?
Our groups are limited to a maximum of four dogs per walker, in line with NSW council regulations. This keeps groups small enough for genuine supervision and lets every dog get individual attention.
Do you pick up and drop off my dog?
Yes. Every walk includes door-to-door pickup and drop-off in our air-conditioned, purpose-equipped vehicles. We collect your dog from home, drive to the park, and return them afterwards.
Where do you take the dogs?
All walks take place at off-leash dog parks, dog-friendly beaches, and bush trails across our service area. Popular spots include Sirius Cove Reserve in Mosman, Tunks Park in Cammeray, and Curl Curl Lagoon. See our service areas page for the full list.
Does my dog need to be left outside?
As long as we can access your property without a key, you are all set. If we need a key or access code, we will sort that out during your free meet and greet.
Can I see photos of my dog on walks?
We share photos and videos from every walk on Instagram and Facebook. For on-demand access to your own dog's photos, our VIP membership includes a personal Google Photos album updated regularly with your dog's photos and videos.
Scheduling and Timing
What time do you pick up my dog?
Our operating hours are 7am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. Pickup times vary depending on your dog's group and the season. If you need a specific pickup time, our Guaranteed Pickup Window add-on locks in your preferred slot.
How long will my dog be away?
From pickup to drop-off, a standard walk takes approximately 2 hours. Half-day care runs approximately 4 hours.
Can I request a specific pickup time?
Yes. Our Guaranteed Pickup Window add-on ensures your dog is collected within a specific timeslot. It costs $20 per walk (or $10 for VIP members). If you are flexible on timing, no add-on is needed and we will schedule your dog within our regular operating hours.
How far in advance can I book?
Most of our pack book recurring walks on the same days each week. Casual walks can be booked at any time, subject to availability. Spots fill quickly, so booking early is recommended.
Do you walk on weekends or public holidays?
We operate weekdays only (Monday to Friday). We also take a short break over the Christmas and New Year period. We will always let you know in advance via our social media channels whenever a planned closure is coming up.
Weather, Cancellations and Safety
Do you walk dogs in the rain?
Yes. Dogs love the rain, so we walk in almost all weather. If your dog gets wet or muddy, we will rinse and towel them off before dropping them home. A bath service is also available if they need a deeper clean. In the event of dangerous weather (hailstorms, lightning, or heavy storms), we will cancel walks where there is a genuine safety risk to dogs or staff.
What happens if you cancel a walk?
Occasionally we may need to cancel due to severe weather or an emergency. We will notify you as soon as possible if this happens. You will not be charged for walks we cancel.
What is your cancellation policy?
Adjust your schedule by end of business Thursday for the following week at no charge. Changes made after Thursday incur a $20 adjustment fee ($10 for VIP members). Cancellations within 48 hours of a scheduled walk are charged at the full service fee. Automatic waivers apply for vet emergencies, dog illness (with vet documentation), and family emergencies. Full details are in our terms of service.
What happens in an emergency?
Before your dog's first walk, we collect a secondary contact and an emergency contact. This ensures we can always reach someone quickly if anything unexpected happens. Our team follows documented emergency protocols, and we will keep you fully informed every step of the way. For more about our team's qualifications and training, visit our about page.
What Our Pack Parents Say

"Stellar Paws have been walking Charlie since he was a puppy and he adores the team. They have personalised cards for every dog so walkers know which dogs pair well together. A full hour walk at a variety of venues means it's always new and interesting."
Phil · Naremburn

"The compassion and generosity from the team make this one of the best companies I've interacted with. They've taught my dog recall so when I take him to the park I have no concerns letting him off leash. Extremely professional, honest and passionate."
Alana · Cammeray

"Was nervous about leaving my 5-month-old with people I didn't know. The team did an at-home visit, met Loki and popped him in a group with lovely pooches. He has an absolute blast, even sooks when he gets dropped home because he loves the walkers so much!"
Sarah · Crows Nest

"Our bulldog boys Bug and Busta absolutely love their outings with Stellar Paws. The team have shown patience and a sense of humour in dealing with them. Ongoing training on every walk and their behaviour has improved immeasurably."
